Mammoth: the crocs for the rest of the year

One of the big winners this year is the Mammoth, the new fleece-lined crocs for fall and winter — lightweight and warm, these are a welcome break from the traditionally klunky & heavy approach to winter shoe design.

What a great combination: the lightness and comfort of croc’s croslitetm construction and a warm, toasty fur lining — all in an easy slip-on shoe that provides support and protection in all kinds of weather.

A few seasonal twists

We’re talking classic crocs design here, with a few subtle but very important twists. The ergonomic Italian styling features a spacious orthotic footbed, an advanced toebox ventilation system, and non-marking slip-resistant soles. The sole is thicker than most crocs for better protection from puddles and snow. No side holes on these either, and of course the croslite is completely waterproof, so all in all your feet stay warm dry in a surprisingly wide range of conditions.

The anti-microbial synthetic shearling lining is super soft and incredibly durable. These removable liners are odor resistant and machine washable; here’s a pair of winter shoes that’ll feel as good in mid February as they did the first time you put them on. Remember, though, the fleece liners do make for a more close-fitting shoe, so we’d suggest ordering one size larger than you normally wear.

Tips for buyers

The Mammoth crocs are pretty popular, so common sizes in popular colors are already getting herd to find. They’re sold in unisex sizing, which is really Men’s sizing in disguise. If the site you’re buying from doesn’t translate, this can make getting the correct size for women a tad tricky — first, drop down down 2 sizes, then go back up one size to accommodate the shearling liner. So if you’re a Women’s size 7, you’d drop down to a Unisex 5, then one size up to a proper fit in a Unisex 6.

The Mammoth is also available in kids sizes — sure to be a pleaser at home, school and play.
